Royal Taber Street Earns DPH “Full Compliance”
Designation for a 3rd Straight Year!

August 3, 2011 -  Royal Taber Street Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is taking the “Royal Standard of Excellence” to another level with its nearly unprecedented third consecutive full compliance, deficiency-free survey from the Mass Department of Public Health’s Division of Health Quality.

“To accomplish this one time is hard enough,” said Royal owner and CEO Jim Mamary. “Two in a row is rarer still. But to be deficiency- free three straight years is unheard of! I couldn’t be more proud of the staff at Royal Taber Street for all they do to provide first class care to all our short-term patients and long-term residents. To be consistently excellent is the goal of our company, and Taber Street is leading the way.”

How rare an honor is it? Fewer than one in four nursing homes in Massachusetts receive a full compliance designation for a given survey period, and nationally, only eight percent are deemed “deficiency-free.” And now Taber Street has accomplished this feat three straight years, giving the Royal facility continued bragging rights as being among the best of the best, not just in Southeastern Massachusetts, but in the entire Commonwealth.

“The skilled nursing industry is held to extremely high standards, and rightly so,” said Mamary. “We are responsible for caring for people who in most cases can no longer take care of themselves, and the state must be advocates for them. You can be a good nursing home and not get this designation, so to earn the state’s highest marks three years running is something everyone at Taber Street can be very proud of.”

Federal regulations require nursing homes in the Commonwealth to be subjected to unannounced inspections every 12 months on average, with every aspect of a facility’s operation scrutinized, including health inspections, nursing care and staffing, the quality of the food service, record keeping, the condition of the physical plant and sanitation. The survey is designed to give a true picture of a facility’s operations in the name of protecting the welfare of the elderly.

“It’s great to be acknowledged for our work here,” said Royal Taber Street Executive Director Mary Ann Liatsis. “This reflects the commitment of a very dedicated staff to bring consistent excellence to a very difficult job. At the same time, it only gives us more incentive to continue along the same path. Once you get there, you want to stay there, and Taber Street has now stayed at the top three straight years.”

Royal Taber Street is joined by the five-star Royal Megansett Nursing & Retirement Home in North Falmouth in enjoying “full compliance” status. And Royal Taber Street has received yet another honor recently by also being named a 5-star nursing facility for consistent excellence in health inspections, staffing and clinical skills. “The Royal Standard of Excellence” is more than a clever phrase - it’s our promise.

Additionally, the Royal Health Group owns and operates four other skilled nursing facilities south of Boston, including Royal Braintree Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Royal Cape Cod Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Buzzards Bay, Royal Fairhaven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, and Royal Falmouth Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, as well as the Royal at Harwich Village, an assisted living community.
