Royal Braintree Takes the Lead for “Diabetes Awareness Month”
October 25, 2011 – November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and Royal Braintree Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is offering weekly programs throughout the month to educate the community on an illness that affects eleven million Americans over the age of 65.
Royal Braintree has recently joined forces with the internationally respected Joslin Diabetes Center to provide our residents the very best skilled nursing diabetes care available anywhere.
Royal’s coordinator Jane Belyea is hosting a series of programs at Royal Braintree each Tuesday in November called “Staying Healthy with Diabetes – A Guide for Older Adults.” Jane will be introducing the new Joslin program, and explain how Joslin’s clinical guidelines will dramatically improve the care our residents receive. As a person who has lived with diabetes for more than 50 years, Jane speaks from experience.
In addition to receiving handouts on healthy eating, carbohydrate counting and understanding blood sugar levels, you’ll be able to sample healthy fruits and vegetables that can help you manage your diabetes. Consider Royal Braintree as a key resource in helping you or your loved one live well with diabetes.
The Tuesday programs are free and open to the public. Come by anytime between 10am and 1pm to learn more about Diabetes Specialty Services at Royal Braintree Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, a Program of Joslin Diabetes Center.
Every Tuesday in November, starting November 1st! 10am - 1pm
Note! Tuesday November 16th – Meet the new management team at RoyalBraintree, in addition to learning about our diabetes program!
