Royal’s New Director of Alzheimer’s Services Meets the Royal Team
July, 2011 – Dr. Anil Nair, Royal Health Group’s new Director of Alzheimer’s Services, recently met with the executive directors and others from the four Royal facilities offering the “Royal Innovation: Alzheimer’s Care” program. This critical area of healthcare has been a major focus of the Royal Health Group, and the appointment of Dr. Nair, partnering with program director Maureen Bradley, further bolsters Royal’s efforts to provide unsurpassed, innovative memory care to our residents with cognitive issues.
For Dr. Nair (pronounced “NY-er”), who is also Chief of Neurology and Director of the Alzheimer Disease Center at Quincy Medical Center, the most interesting aspect of the partnership with Royal “is the community aspect. That’s really important, I feel. It’s the closest you get to real patient care.”
“A person with dementia has no voice,” added Dr. Nair. “We need to not only care for them but advocate for them as well.”
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Nair is directing the only center in Massachusetts (Quincy Medical) that is FDA-approved for a promising study on Alzheimer’s, and he has recently authored a 1000-page textbook on geriatric neurology.
Dr. Nair will begin working with residents in the Royal Braintree program, and then expand his scope to the other facilities (Royal Cape Cod in Buzzards Bay, Royal Falmouth and Royal Fairhaven). The plan is not only for the families of our Alzheimer’s/dementia residents, but for the community at large to have access to Dr. Nair’s expertise as he settles in to his new position.
The Royal Health Group is delighted that Dr. Nair is partnering with us, and we look forward to a long and fruitful association for the benefit of the Alzheimer’s/dementia population we seek to serve with dignity and skill.
