Royal Taber Street Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Earns Coveted
Designation of Excellence From Department of Public Health
Only one in 10 nursing homes nationally are rated this highly in a given year
New Bedford, MA, August 17, 2010 – For an unprecedented second year in a row, the Royal Taber Street Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has received a “full compliance” designation from the Mass. Department of Public Health’s Division of Health Care Quality.
Nursing homes in the Commonwealth are surveyed every 9 to 15 months, with unannounced, on-site visits lasting several days and covering every facet of a facility’s operation, including nursing care, medical records, food service quality and sanitation. With even the smallest deficiency capable of knocking down a facility’s overall score, it is extremely difficult to earn a “full compliance” rating, and almost unheard of to earn it twice in a row.
“Receiving a deficiency-free federal and state inspection is accomplished by only the 25 percent of all nursing centers in Massachusetts in a given year, and only eight percent nationwide” said James Mamary, Sr., founder and CEO of the family-owned Royal Health Group, which owns and operates the Royal Taber Street facility. “Accomplishing this feat two years in a row places Royal Taber Street at the very pinnacle of that elite group.”
Royal’s Chief of Business Development James Mamary, Jr. gives special credit to the Taber Street staff, led by Executive Director Stacy Grass and Director of Nursing Amanda Carvalho:
“To earn a rating like this even once is something to be quite proud of, but to get two in a row puts Taber Street into Hall of Fame territory,” said Mamary.
“We’re a family run business,” said Grass, “and we think of it as our family taking care of yours. We’re delighted that the high level of coordinated care we provide every day has been recognized by the department charged with protecting the welfare of the state’s elderly in skilled nursing facilities.”
The Royal Health Group owns and operates six nursing homes and an assisted living facility south of Boston.
